About Tescom Corporation
Tescom Corporation is a United States based manufacturer of standard and custom-engineered precision pressure controls, serving a diverse set of industries with their products. Tescom traces its history to the establishment of Smiths Inventions in 1916, founded by entrepreneur Elmer Smith. During their initial years of operation, Smiths Inventions focused on the development of oxy-acetylene welding and cutting equipment. By the 1950’s, Smith Inventions’ diversified their product portfolio to include high pressure regulators and other such products. During this time, the company also rebranded themselves, changing their name to Tescom Corporation.
During the 1980’s, Tescom was acquired in an LBO sale, and they began international expansion with new facilities in the United Kingdom and Europe. In 1993, Tescom changed their business focus to fluid controls, and it was at then when the company decided to retire the oxy-acetylene welding and cutting equipment that they began their business with. Tescom was acquired by Emerson in 2005, and they currently continue to operate as a subsidiary of the company.
