Hardware is an all-encompassing term that refers to the physical components of a machine such as rings and valves. Bearings and fasteners are hardware parts although they each have been given their own separate section on this website.
We at ASAP NSN Hub, owned and operated by ASAP Semiconductor, supply aircraft parts from top manufacturers, including Boeing, Cessna, Eaton, HellermannTyton, Honeywell, Raytheon, and Airbus.
Rings
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems use rings as a sealing mechanism. As the name suggests, rings are circular in shape. Stainless steel, metal alloys, plastics, and polymers are all materials used to make rings. Rings are often used within valves, compressors, and fuel injectors. Types of rings include, anti-extrusion rings, backing rings, and o-rings.
Tape Tools
The FAA has regulations concerning the use of tape within aircraft mechanisms. Temperature variations, wind exposure, moisture exposure, and various other conditions must all be considered in regard to the type of tape used. The type of tape used depends on the intended purpose. Mechanics use tape in repair and overhaul procedures, ground operations, and within the flight cycle of the aircraft. Aluminum tape and mylar tape are two different kinds of tape often found in aircraft.
Valves
The flow of a liquid can be directly interrupted or redirected by a valve. Operated manually or by a motor, valves are used to shut off or alter the flow of fluid within an aircraft. Materials used to construct valves include copper, carbon steel, brass, and plastics. The application of the valve must be considered in respect to the material chosen.
