About Daher-Socata
Daher-Socata began as Morane-Saulnier, and was founded in France, 1911. Throughout the early 20th century and both World Wars, Morane-Saulnier produced civilian and military aircraft, and was a key leader in the development of synchronization gear, which allowed a machine-gun to fire through a propeller’s spin without actually hitting the propeller. In 1962, Morane-Saulnier was purchased by aircraft manufacturer Potez, and in 1966 its civilian models were spun off to form SOCATA (Societe de Construction d’Avons de Tourisme et d’Affaires) and was eventually purchased by Sud Aviation. Sud Aviation would go on to merge with Nord Aviation and SEREB in 1970 to form the Aerospatiale, which itself would go on to merge with several other European aviation companies to form the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS). On November 3rd, 2008, EADS reached an agreement with French industrial conglomerate DAHER to purchase a 70% majority stake in Socata, which would be renamed as Daher-Socata. In March 2015, the company’s name was changed to just Daher as part of a rebranding.
