About Foxconn Technology Group
Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., more commonly known as Foxconn, is a Taiwanese multinational manufacturer that focuses on the production of electronics under contracts. As a major provider of electronics manufacturing, Foxconn assists in the production of products belonging to companies such as Apple, Nintendo, Sony, Nokia, and Microsoft. With over 800,000 employees situated across multiple global facilities, Foxconn manufacturing accounts for nearly 40% of all global consumer electronics sold.
Foxconn was first established in 1974 by Terry Gou, and their first manufacturing plant in China opened in Shenzhen 14 years later. While Foxconn oversaw continuous growth after their establishment, one of their biggest milestones was reached in 2001 when the manufacturer was chosen by Intel over Asus to produce their branded motherboards. In the subsequent years following their new partnership, Foxconn would continue expansion with new plants and the acquisition of companies such as Asia Pacific Telecom.
Leading into the present, Foxconn has established a large international presence with facilities located across the globe. Additionally, Foxconn has also formed strong relationships with their major customers, setting themselves apart as the primary manufacturer of many highly recognized products and electronics. Recently, Foxconn has formed new partnerships to further diversify their operations, recently forming Future Mobility alongside Tencent and Harmony New Energy Auto to manufacture all-electric fully autonomous cars.
