About Harris Corporation
Harris Corporation was first established in 1895 as the Harris Automatic Press Company, and their first years of business consisted of the development of lithographic processes and printing presses. Leading into the 1960’s, Harris began to acquire multiple businesses, establishing their capability for typesetting, broadcast transmitters, and microwave technology for their product portfolio. In 1967, Harris acquired Radiation, Inc. and their headquarters was moved to Melbourne, Florida. Through the years and into the 1990’s, Harris entered the semiconductor market with more acquisitions, though they sold these divisions by the turn of the century. In the 2010’s, Harris reopened their Alberta avionics operation and began expanding their aviation and defense sectors. At this time they also sold off their broadcast, healthcare, and IT divisions for further restructuring. In 2019, Harris Corporation entered and finalized a merger with L3 Technologies, becoming L3Harris Technologies which it remains as currently. As L3Harris, the now joined companies focus on information technology services and operate as a defense contractor.
